Trump leading Harris among independents: Poll

Former President Trump is leading Vice President Harris among independent voters, a new survey found.

The survey, released Wednesday by YouGov, found that 42 percent of independent voters said they plan to vote for Trump in this November’s election, while 37 percent said they would cast their ballot for Harris.

Thirteen percent of independent voters say they are not sure whom they will vote for.

Harris and Trump each earned nearly all of their support from their respective parties. Ninety-five percent of Democrat said Harris has their vote, and 91 percent of Republican voters said they plan to vote for Trump.

Fifty-three percent of independent voters said they would not consider voting for Harris, and 47 percent said they would consider casting their ballot for her.

Fifty-five percent of independent voters said they would consider voting for Trump, and 45 percent said they would not consider voting for him.

The survey comes as Harris gains ground in other polling. Just weeks after announcing her campaign, Harris has cut into Trump’s lead in several key battleground states.

After the Democratic National Convention, where she formally accepted the party’s nomination, Harris widened her lead.

The survey comes just after independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his campaign last week and endorsed Trump.

The YouGov survey was conducted Aug. 25 to 27 among 1,555 people and has a margin of error of 3.2 percent.
