Harris campaign to bring Scaramucci, Olivia Troye as surrogates to Trump debate

Vice President Harris’s campaign is planning to bring ex-officials from former President Trump’s White House as surrogates to the debate Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

Anthony Scaramucci, ex-White House communications director, and Olivia Troye, ex-national security adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence, will join the Harris campaign, according to an official.

They will “speak out against Trump and for Harris ahead of tonight’s debate” at a press availability, the official said.

“[A]s Americans prepare to tune in for tonight’s debate, these former Trump staffers are warning that a second Donald Trump presidency would be far more dangerous and extreme than the first,” communications director Michael Tyler said.

Scaramucci is an outspoken critic of his former boss, warning last month that Trump is “coming to grips” with not recapturing the White House, and “growing darker” as a result. He had a tumultuous and short-lived stint in the Trump administration, where he was often combative with reporters.

Troye spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and was part of the launch o “Republicans for Harris” that included more than 25 GOP endorsements. Since then, former Vice President Dick Cheney and former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) both said he would support Harris in November.

The Harris campaign on Monday released an ad to run on Fox News and in Trump’s hometown of West Palm Beach, Fla., as well as in Philadelphia, featuring ex-officials warning against Trump. The ad included quotes from Pence and former national security adviser John Bolton.
