Harris fundraises off Taylor Swift endorsement

Vice President Harris’s campaign is fundraising off of the major endorsement it received Tuesday night from superstar Taylor Swift.

Swift threw her support behind Harris just moments after the vice president and former President Trump went head-to-head on the debate stage Tuesday night, explaining in her message that she supports her because “she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”

“BIG news: Taylor Swift just endorsed Kamala Harris for President,” a Harris campaign email sent Wednesday reads.

“Will you join Taylor Swift in supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign?” the campaign added, asking for a $25 donation.

It included a photograph of Swift — and her cat — and some of the text from her endorsement that was posted on her Instagram. The pop star called herself a “childless cat lady” in her endorsement, making a reference to past remarks from GOP vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (Ohio).

Swift’s endorsement was highly coveted, and she boasts a massive following and loyal fan base, who are largely women and young Americans. Harris’s running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), said in a postdebate interview on MSNBC that he was “incredibly grateful” to Swift for the endorsement.

Harris’s campaign also highlighted the endorsement Tuesday night on the social platform X, writing “Ready for it” in a post including Swift’s song “…Ready For It?”

Trump shrugged off the support early Wednesday, predicting the megastar could “pay a price” for it later in the marketplace.

“I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” Trump said Wednesday on “Fox & Friends.” “It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. … But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
