Harris campaign launches weekend of action to reach 1 million voters

Vice President Harris’s campaign said Friday it launched its largest weekend of action yet, mobilizing volunteers in battleground states about five weeks out from Election Day.

In an announcement sent first to The Hill, the Harris campaign said it is aiming to reach more than 1 million voters this weekend through more than 25,000 volunteer shifts and 4,000 events across battleground states.

Surrogates including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D), Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-N.Y.) and producer Shonda Rhimes will be part of the weekend of action too.

The campaign is expected to use the weekend to bash former President Trump over his campaign’s field operation, calling it “weak” in the announcement.

Harris battleground state director Dan Kanninen argued Democrats have “a massive battleground advantage over the Trump operation.”

“With just 39 days left, we are pushing our edge on the ground to underscore the stakes of this election to the voters who will decide this election,” Kanninen said. “The margins in this election will be razor-thin, and we are dedicated to leaving it all out on the field.”

The weekend will include a “Working Women for Kamala” coalition event in Georgia, a brunch in Pennsylvania and a “Politics in the Playground” event in Minnesota.

As for the candidate, Harris will travel to Arizona on Friday for a visit to the border, California on Saturday to fundraise, and Nevada on Sunday for a rally.
