Vice President Harris’s campaign unveiled an ad Wednesday morning hitting Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) over his response about the 2020 election during the vice presidential debate.
The new digital ad titled “JD Vance’s Damning Non-Answer” is part of the Harris campaign’s $370 million in fall paid media reservation. The campaign expects to unveil a series of ads that highlight moments from the vice presidential debate.
The 30-second ad pounces on the moment from the debate when Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) asked Vance if former President Trump lost the 2020 election.
Vance replied, “Tim, I am focused on the future.”
“That’s a damning nonanswer,” Walz said.
The ad then shows images of the riots at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
“America, I think you’ve got a really clear choice of who’s going to honor democracy and who’s going to honor Donald Trump,” Walz said in the debate.
Walz pressing Vance on the 2020 election was one of the governor’s best moments of the debate, which otherwise was policy-focused and civil while the two sparred on immigration, abortion and the economy.
The Harris campaign praised Walz’s performance after the debate and reiterated calls for another presidential debate between Harris and Trump. Trump again rejected that invite, saying he was “not looking to do it again.”
