Trump tops Harris by 2 points in Florida: Survey

Former President Trump is leading Vice President Harris in Florida by 2 points, according to a new survey.

In the poll, released Thursday by Napolitan News Service, Trump received 50 percent support to Harris’s 48 percent among likely voters in the Sunshine State. Around 1 percent of respondents in the GOP nominee’s home state said they were still unsure about their choice ahead of November.

The vice president had the upper hand among the younger electorate, garnering 55 percent support from respondents ages 18-34 compared to Trump’s 37 percent. The former president led with older voters, however, with 63 percent supporting him compared to the Democratic nominee’s 37 percent, according to the survey.

Harris also led the way with Black and Hispanic voters in the state while Trump maintained an advantage with white respondents, the poll found.

The Democratic nominee received 87 percent backing from Black voters to Trump’s 13 percent. Among Hispanics, Harris picked up 62 percent support compared to the former president’s 38 percent, the data shows.

A Telemundo poll released earlier this week found Trump leading Harris by 7 points, 48 percent to 41 percent, among Florida Hispanics. He also edged out the vice president by 2 points, 49 percent to 47 percent, in a Morning Consult poll from early September.

The GOP nominee had a 5-point gap, 50 percent to 45 percent, in Florida based on an Emerson College Polling/The Hill survey released at the beginning of last month. Currently, Trump leads Harris by 2.4 percentage points in Florida, according to the latest The Hill/Decision Desk HQ aggregate of polls. 

Trump won the right-leaning state in 2020 over President Biden by around 3.3 percentage points. 

The Napolitan News Service poll was conducted Sept. 25-27 among 774 likely Florida voters. The margin of error was 3.5 percentage points.
