Biden praises Cheney endorsement of Harris: ‘I’ve never been so proud’

President Biden told reporters he’s “never been so proud” of Liz Cheney Thursday night after she delivered a speech in support of Vice President Harris.

President Biden told reporters he’s “never been so proud” of Liz Cheney Thursday night after she delivered a speech in support of Vice President Harris.

“She made one of the most consequential speeches I’ve ever heard. She has character,” Biden said at Joint Base Andrews, Md. “I know her dad. And her dad as well we argued like hell. But I’ve always admired her courage and honesty.”

The Republican representative endorsed Harris alongside her father, the former vice president in late September, shocking GOP leaders.

“What she did took not only political courage, but physical courage. Physical courage,” Biden stated. “I’ve never been so proud. I really am, really incredibly proud of her.”

When a reporter asked about the electoral impact her words would have, Biden became emboldened in his stance.

“I’m not making a judgment just talking about her. She and her father have character. Character, dammit. It’s what we need in this country,” said Biden. “Character and there’s not enough of it.”

Cheney on Thursday campaigned for Harris in Ripon, Wis., known as the birthplace of the Republican Party.

“We may disagree on some things, but we are bound together by the other thing that matters to us as Americans, more than any other, and that is our duty to our Constitution and our belief in the miracle and the blessing of this great nation,” she told voters. “I ask you to stand in truth, to reject the depraved cruelty of Donald Trump and I ask you instead to help us elect Kamala Harris for president.”

Harris spoke after her, promising to help the country “get back to a healthy two-party system” if elected.
