Former President Trump attended the annual Al Smith dinner in New York City on Thursday evening — a major fundraising event hosted by Catholic Charities of New York.
The dinner, which traditionally includes presidential candidates, was held virtually in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both the former president and President Biden dialed in. Trump also attended in 2016.
The GOP presidential nominee said last month on Truth Social that “it will be an honor to attend.” Vice President Harris’s campaign said she would attend virtually this year.
The event, hosted by New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, marks the 79th annual dinner.
Trump’s remarks were expected around 9 p.m. EDT.
