Harris campaign ‘blowing the opportunity,’ says Gov. Sununu

(NewsNation) — With the 2024 election just days away, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) says momentum matters, and he doesn’t think the winds are in Vice President Harris’ favor against former President Trump.

“I think the Harris campaign is kind of blowing the opportunity at this point,” Sununu said on NewsNation Now anchor Connell McShane. “I think it’s Trump’s race to lose.”

Sununu pointed to recent instances where Harris has struggled to distinguish herself from President Biden.

“Things like that have really frozen her campaign, if anything,” he said. “And as folks harp on the negativity of Trump, that’s not helping her either. People know all the outrageous things that surround Trump and his outrageous statements; that’s all baked in.”

Sununu also dismissed a recent warning from Trump’s former chief of staff, John Kelly, who called his former boss a “fascist” and said if elected in November, the former president would behave like a “dictator.”

“Do you think half of America is voting for a fascist?” Sununu asked. “No. It’s just an outrageous statement.”

“Look, I respect John Kelly a lot, but obviously, everyone knows there’s a huge personal relationship divide, the New Hampshire governor continued.

“Just like Liz Cheney. It’s a personal issue with them,” he added, referring to the former Republican lawmaker.
