Lara Trump encouraged by GOP early voting signs
Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chair Lara Trump appeared encouraged by early voting signs, saying it’s “really great” that former President Trump has been advocating for early voting—an apparent flip-flop from past remarks.
“I certainly think it’s been really great to see that he is completely on board with not only early voting but mail-in voting and understands how important this is to making sure that he wins on election night,” Lara Trump said in an interview with NewsNation’s Black Burman, who had asked her if she felt she was “playing catch-up” with the former president’s change of opinion.
In the past, Trump condemned early voting but has recently changed his tune.
Burman mentioned that in the 25 states he had early voting data on, 43 percent were Democrats, and 35 percent were Republicans, which he called an “improvement” for the GOP.
Lara Trump responded, saying, “I think traditionally, Republicans tend to want to go vote on Election Day,” which was “prior to Donald Trump.”
North Carolina and Georgia had a record number of ballots cast on the first day of early voting.
In the Tar Heel State, more than 350,000 ballots were cast, surpassing the number cast on the first day of early voting in 2020.
In Georgia, the secretary of state said that first-day voting totals were more than double the record.
According to The Hill/ Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ) election forecast, Harris leads Trump, 48.7 percent to 47.8 percent.
