Potential Dole challenger Hagan weighs her options
North Carolina state Sen. Kay Hagan (D) is rethinking her decision not to enter the race against Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-N.C.) in 2008, and she could enter the race in the coming days.
{mosads}Hagan’s campaign manager, Linda Cary, told The Hill in an e-mail that the subject of Hagan re-evaluating the race “has come up, and Senator Hagan will be making an announcement early next week.”
Rumors about Hagan rethinking her decision have surfaced on the blogs in recent days. She announced earlier this month that she would not run against Dole.
National Democrats have, to this point, been unable to find a top recruit against Dole. Her current Democratic opponent, investment banker Jim Neal, gained attention this week when his campaign confirmed that he is gay.
