Boehner: Obama ‘standing on sidelines’

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) accused President Obama of “standing on the sidelines” when it comes to job creation as he touted House-passed legislation in 2013 that never made it to the president’s desk.

Boehner’s office on Wednesday released a Web video promoting House GOP efforts to boost the economy with the passage of bills related to energy, education, agriculture and healthcare.

{mosads}“Here in the people’s House, we’re focused on getting the economy moving again, passing good jobs bills,” Boehner says in the slick video, which resembles a cross between a political ad and a Hollywood movie trailer.

Among the bills cited were proposals to build the Keystone XL pipeline, overhaul the No Child Left Behind education law and repeal the 2010 healthcare law.

In the final weeks of the year, Boehner has spoken up repeatedly to promote the House’s work and defend Republicans against the “do-nothing” label Democrats have tried to affix to their majority.

The Speaker blamed the Democratic-led Senate, and Obama, for ignoring the House bills.

“But Senate Democrats are standing in the way. President Obama is just standing on the sidelines,” Boehner said in a voiceover. At the conclusion of the minute-long video he appears on camera and asks, “Mr. President, what are you waiting for?”
