Pence to address House GOP
Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence will meet with members of his party on Capitol Hill next week in the final days before lawmakers leave Washington for the campaign trail once again.
{mosads}Donald Trump’s running mate is expected to address the House GOP conference the morning of Sept. 13.
Unlike Trump, who had never run for political office until this presidential campaign, Pence served in the House from 2001 to 2013 and has long-standing relationships with many GOP lawmakers.
“Mike Pence is a great friend and a true conservative, and I’m grateful that he’s coming to rally our members down the homestretch,” Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said in a statement.
“Mike has added tremendous value to Donald Trump’s campaign and House Republicans are excited to learn more about their plans to succeed in November and get our nation back on track.”
Trump met with House and Senate Republicans in July, shortly before Congress adjourned for its summer recess.
The House and Senate are both convening for the first time on Tuesday since July 14. Both chambers are scheduled to be in session for the rest of September, and then will be out of session again until after Election Day.
