Top Dem tells colleagues to expect more Flynn revelations: report

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee is expecting more revelations to surface about former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s ties to Russia, Politico reported on Tuesday.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) reportedly told Democratic colleagues in a closed-door meeting that a report about Flynn’s discussion of U.S. sanctions with Russia’s ambassador before President Trump will not be the last about the senior aide, who resigned Monday night.

Schiff also suggested that Flynn’s conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak could be the subject of congressional investigation, according to Politico, which added that he said those conversations are not covered by executive privilege, as some House Republicans have argued.

{mosads}Republicans have, so far, dismissed calls to investigate Flynn. House Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said Tuesday that his panel would not investigate, saying the issue has “taken care of itself.”

Flynn communicated with Kislyak numerous times in the months before Trump’s inauguration in January, including a call on Dec. 29, after then-President Obama issued new sanctions against the Kremlin for interfering in the 2016 presidential election.
