Texas Republican: In Trump’s ‘best interest’ to keep his children from White House

Rep. Bill Flores (R-Texas) said Thursday he thinks it would be best for President Trump to keep his children out of the White House.

“I’m going out on a limb here, but I would say that I think it would be in the President’s best interest if he removed all of his children from the White House,” Flores told East Texas affiliate KBTX Thursday morning, the Texas Tribune reported.

“Not only Donald Trump [Jr.], but Ivanka and Jared Kushner.”

{mosads}His comments come after Trump Jr. — who does not have a formal White House role — earlier this week released a chain of emails detailing a 2016 conversation setting up a meeting with a Russian lawyer he was told had compromising information on Hillary Clinton.

Kushner also attended the June 2016 meeting. At the time, Trump Jr. had a role as a campaign surrogate for this father — since Trump’s election he’s been running the Trump Organization with his brother Eric.

Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, both serve as advisers to the president.

President Trump has defended Trump Jr. for taking the meeting with the Russian lawyer, saying in a tweet that he was “open, transparent and innocent.”

But Flores said he has “issues with the meeting.”

“It’s a meeting that should not have taken place,” Flores said. “I think he thought he was looking out for his father’s best interest.”
