Scalise calls GOP colleagues
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) on Monday phoned in to a conference call for House Republicans.
Scalise, who was injured earlier this year in a shooting at a congressional baseball practice in Virginia, tweeted that he is looking forward to seeing all of his House colleagues in the future.
“Enjoyed talking to my @HouseGOP colleagues on the phone today & look forward to seeing them all once I’m able!” Scalise wrote.

The call Scalise was on discussed government funding, according to CBS News. When lawmakers return from recess in September, they will need to pass a funding bill to keep the government open and raise the nation’s debt limit.
An aide for Scalise said the Louisiana Republican “made it clear that he is focused on his inpatient rehabilitation, and that the timing of his return to work will be based on his doctors’ advice, and has not yet been determined,” Politico reported.
Scalise was critically injured in June after a gunman targeted lawmakers during a GOP congressional baseball practice. His injuries required multiple surgeries.
He has been receiving treatment and undergoing intensive inpatient rehabilitation.
