House Republican hopes Congress will be ‘grown-up’ upon return next week
Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) said people should not worry about the heavy legislative agenda Congress faces upon its return to session in September because the members are all “grown-up.”
“People need to know there’s some stability here,” Cole told the Associated Press. “We’re not going to have to worry about defaults, we’re not going to have to worry about government shutdowns, these guys are all grown-up, they’re adults, and that ought to be the aim.”

Congress will return to session after failing to pass health care reform over the summer and will immediately face legislation on key issues, including a bill to fund the government through the next fiscal year and emergency relief funding for the cleanup of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana.
The Republican-led government is also attempting to pass comprehensive tax reform legislation.
