Scalise to throw out first pitch at Nationals playoff game
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Washington Nationals playoff game against the Chicago Cubs on Friday, a spokesman confirmed.
The first game of the series is taking place at Nationals Park in southeast Washington, D.C., the same place where the annual Congressional Baseball Game was held in June.
A gunman shot Scalise and three others on June 14 while the GOP team was practicing for the charity game.

Scalise was hospitalized in critical condition after he was shot in the hip and underwent multiple surgeries at MedStar Washington Hospital Center to treat his injuries.
Scalise returned to Capitol Hill last week. He is still undergoing out-patient rehabilitation and has been using crutches and a Louisiana State University-decorated motorized scooter to move around.
David Bailey, a member of Scalise’s Capitol Police security detail who was also shot, threw out the first pitch at the Congressional Baseball Game.
The lawmakers on the GOP and Democratic baseball teams made a show of unity at the game in the aftermath of the shooting. Even though Democrats won the charity game, lawmakers chose to leave the trophy in Scalise’s office.
The Nationals and Cubs will square off on Friday in Game 1 of their National League Division Series at 7:30 p.m.
