McCarthy hits GOP senators on ObamaCare: Some ‘don’t deserve to stay in office’
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) late Monday took aim at Senate Republicans during a local GOP dinner in Indiana.
“We have 286 bills sitting in the Senate. We have to break that logjam,” McCarthy told a dinner hosted by the Allen County Republican Party, according to The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne.
{mosads}“But if you’re not strong enough to say you’re going to repeal ObamaCare and then vote that way, you don’t deserve to stay in the office.”
The newspaper noted that the crowd clapped after his line about lawmakers staying in office, although he did not specify any senators.
The comments from McCarthy come after the upper chamber failed in several attempts to repeal and replace ObamaCare. Prior to the Senate’s failed efforts, the House in May passed a bill meant to repeal ObamaCare.
McCarthy during the dinner also described President Trump as “a disrupter,” saying “that’s exactly what we need.”
