Dem Rep jokes about bogus apocalypse reports: ‘S— I never started ‘GOT”
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), seizing on a conspiracy theory that the world will end in the next 24 hours, lamented on Saturday that he had not yet watched “Game of Thrones.”
Shit. I never started #GOT. https://t.co/Kzk1TORprN

Swalwell’s joke took aim at a conspiracy theory that a rogue planet called Nibiru will disrupt the Earth’s orbit on Sunday, setting off a series of catastrophic events, like earthquakes, that will destroy life on Earth.

The catastrophe was originally supposed to strike in September, but that never happened, prompting conspiracy theorists to update their predictions for November.
To be sure, the theory has been widely debunked by scientists, who say that there is no evidence that such a planet even exists.
“There is no credible evidence whatever for the existence of Nibiru,” Dr. David Morrison, a senior scientist at NASA, said to the Daily Express. “There are no pictures, no tracking, no astronomical observations.”
A Twitter user responded to Swalwell joking about his use of a curse word, to which Swalwell responded: “World is ending tomorrow. Let it fly!”
