Dem who offered McCabe a job: ‘People are just tired of the way the president operates’
Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) late Sunday ripped President Trump’s reaction to the firing of former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, saying the president lacks compassion.
“The bottom line is, I think people are just tired of the way this president operates, whether it be when he tweets like a petulant man-child or when he’s a ruthless demagogue,” Pocan said on MSNBC.
Pocan is one of multiple Democratic lawmakers who offered McCabe a job in the hours after he was fired so that he could receive full pension benefits. The congressman said he had not heard back about his offer as of Sunday night.
{mosads}Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe on Friday for not being forthcoming with investigators during an inspector general review.
Trump, who has personally attacked McCabe in the past, praised that decision on Twitter, accusing McCabe of corrupt tactics and calling his firing a “great day for Democracy.”
Pocan bashed that reaction, saying he believes Trump is sending a message that he will attack anyone who cooperates with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
“To fire someone literally a couple days before their retirement, that’s attacking a person and their family, their pension, and people are just so tired of that,” Pocan said.
“This president lacks the human qualities of compassion, and everything we expect to have in a president,” he added.
