RFK grandson says Kennedy’s fight is at stake today
Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-Mass.) praised his grandfather, Robert F. Kennedy, at a Wednesday ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of his assassination, saying the former presidential candidate’s fight for a more accepting country is at stake today.
“Robert Kennedy found the arteries of the American heart and he said to those forgotten: ‘America sees you. America values you,'” Kennedy said at Arlington National Cemetery, where Robert Kennedy is buried near his two brothers, former President John F. Kennedy and former Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.).
{mosads}The congressman went on to say that Kennedy fought for “the very thing at stake today: for a country that accepts you for who you are.”
Robert Kennedy was assassinated on June 6, 1968, hours after he won the California Democratic presidential primary.
