Author Stephen King tells Iowans to vote out Steve King: ‘I’m tired of being confused with this racist dumbbell’

Legendary horror author Stephen King is urging Iowans to vote out Rep. Steve King (Iowa), the GOP lawmaker with whom he shares a name.

“Iowans, for personal reasons I hope you’ll vote Steve King out,” he tweeted. “I’m tired of being confused with this racist dumbbell.”

The congressman has come under renewed scrutiny over his inflammatory remarks about immigration and race, and his association with white nationalist figures.

{mosads}The New York Times issued a correction on Saturday updating a report to call his remarks “racist” instead of “racially tinged.”

He is currently engaged in an unexpectedly close race with Democrat J.D. Scholten, after a number of companies announced that they will now longer contribute to King’s campaign.

Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio), the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, condemned Steve King’s recent comments, calling some of his behavior “completely inappropriate.”

Stephen King has been a repeated and harsh critic of President Trump and Republicans.
