House passes resolution honoring Bush

The House passed a resolution Monday expressing the sympathy of the lower chamber following the death of former President George H.W. Bush.

Congress also passed a resolution allowing for Bush to lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda and the use of the catafalque.

{mosads}The late president is set to lie in state through Wednesday morning, Speaker Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) office announced over the weekend.

A bicameral arrival ceremony is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Ryan and Vice President Pence are expected to provide eulogies during the event.

The House opted to cancel votes for the remainder of the week while the Senate has delayed votes until Wednesday.
