Nadler on Tlaib’s ‘motherf—er’ comments about Trump: ‘I don’t really like that kind of language’
The newly-appointed chairman of the House Judiciary Committee says that he disapproves of remarks regarding impeachment made by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) at a MoveOn.org event Thursday, calling such talk premature.
In an interview Friday morning with CNN’s “New Day,” Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) condemned the language used by his fellow lawmaker in videos of the event posted online Thursday evening, in which Tlaib can be heard telling a cheering crowd that the Democratic congress will “impeach the motherf—er,” referring to Trump.
{mosads}“I don’t like really like that kind of language. But more to the point, I disagree with what she said. It is too early to talk about that intelligently. We have to follow the facts,” Nadler said Friday.
Nadler went on to say that before he made any determination about impeachment he would wait until the special counsel investigation headed by Robert Mueller made its determination on the president’s activities.
“We have to get the facts. That’s why it’s important to protect the Mueller investigation,” Nadler added. “That’s why we have to do our own inquiry. We have to get the facts, we have to see where the facts lead, and maybe that will lead to impeachment, maybe it won’t.”

Video of Tlaib making the comments spread quickly Thursday night, and came hours after the newly-elected congresswoman published an op-ed in the Detroit Free Press arguing for the president’s impeachment.
“People love you and you win,” Tlaib says in the video. “And when your son looks at you and says ‘Momma, look you won. Bullies don’t win.’ And I said, ‘baby they don’t.’ ”
“Because we’re going to go in there and impeach the motherf—er,” Tlaib added as the crowd erupted in cheers.
Tlaib doubled down on the comments Friday morning on Twitter, calling Trump’s presidency a constitutional crisis.
“This is not just about Donald Trump,” she wrote. “This is about all of us. In the face of this constitutional crisis, we must rise.”
