Pelosi: ‘There’s nobody in the country who knows better’ than Trump ‘that he should not be president’
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says “nobody in the country … knows better” than President Trump that he is unfit for office.
“How would I describe him? I think that he describes himself on a daily basis and — I think that there’s nobody in the country who knows better that he should not be president of the United States than Donald Trump,” Pelosi told CBS’s Lesley Stahl in an interview on “60 Minutes” on Sunday.
{mosads}In the same interview, Pelosi reiterated her commitment to working with Trump where possible, saying he is “not worth the trouble of saying you’re so horrible we can’t work together.”
The interview prompted a direct attack on Pelosi from Trump, who decried it as a “puff piece” on Twitter on Sunday evening.
“All they do is Investigate, as it turns out, crimes that they instigated & committed. The Mueller No Collusion decision wasn’t even discussed-and she was a disaster at W.H.,” Trump tweeted. The next morning, he also attacked her for defending Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) against Trump and other conservatives, while also claiming Pelosi “has lost all control of Congress and is getting nothing done.”
In the same interview, Pelosi raised some eyebrows on the left when she said the progressive flank of her caucus, including freshman lawmakers such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), constitutes “like five people.”
