Jeffries raised more than $113M for House Democrats in 2023

Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) gives a statement to reporters following a meeting with Congressional leaders and President Biden at the White House in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 to discuss Ukraine funding and border security in the next supplemental bill.

Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) raised $113 million for Democratic candidates and Democrats’ primary congressional campaign fund in 2023, he announced Tuesday.

Jeffries also raised $4.8 million for his own reelection in the fourth quarter of 2023, his campaign said. Full fourth-quarter campaign finance data is set to be released by the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday.

“The American people are ready for change,” Jeffries said in a statement. “House Democrats will continue to aggressively raise the resources needed to retake the majority so we can put an end to the extremism and continue our work delivering big results for the American people.”

His campaign said the minority leader has $7.7 million in cash on hand for 2024.

The 2023 fundraising haul includes $99 million for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), marking his first full year heading the House caucus.

House Democrats have targeted a handful of battleground seats for the 2024 cycle, including multiple in Jeffries’s home state of New York. The DCCC announced a group of 17 “top tier” candidates Monday, including candidates in Colorado, Nebraska and other states.

“House Democrats have multiple paths to winning back the majority and this incredible slate of candidates are at the forefront of these efforts,” Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.), chair of the DCCC, said in a statement Monday.

The DCCC strategy expands on a list of 31 “target” districts announced last spring, and a separate group of 29 “vulnerable” Democratic members.
