Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that she wishes that people close to President Trump would intervene “for the good of the country.”
“I pray for the president of the United States,” she said at a press conference. “I wish that his family or his administration or his staff would have an intervention for the good of the country.”
{mosads}Pelosi’s comments come a day after Trump suddenly ended an infrastructure meeting with Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) after Pelosi accused Trump of engaging in a cover-up.
Trump denied being involved in a cover-up and said that talks would not resume until Democrats “get these phony investigations over with,” referring to a series of congressional probes. The president also called out Pelosi’s comments about praying for him, apparently tweeting sarcastically “I know you truly mean it.”
The Speaker also doubled down on past comments calling the president’s walkout a “temper tantrum” during Thursday’s press conference.
