Trump says Omar will help him win Minnesota
President Trump said he thinks Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar (D), a vocal critic of the president and frequent target of his attacks, will help him win the state in 2020.
“In 2020, because of America hating anti-Semite Rep. Omar, & the fact that Minnesota is having its best economic year ever, I will win the State! ‘We are going to be a nightmare to the President,’ she say. No, AOC Plus 3 are a Nightmare for America!” the president Tweeted Tuesday morning.
In 2016 I almost won Minnesota. In 2020, because of America hating anti-Semite Rep. Omar, & the fact that Minnesota is having its best economic year ever, I will win the State! “We are going to be a nightmare to the President,” she say. No, AOC Plus 3 are a Nightmare for America!

Trump narrowly lost Minnesota to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016. No Republican presidential candidate has won the state since 1972.
{mosads}Trump has increased his attacks on Omar and other progressive freshmen congresswomen in recent weeks after telling them to “go back” to where they came from.
At a recent Trump rally, the crowd chanted “send her back” when Trump again attacked Omar. He let the chant continue for 13 seconds before he began speaking again, though he has since disavowed it.
Omar’s base and hometown voters seem to still support the progressive they elected in 2018. She was welcomed back last week to a crowd at a Minnesota airport chanting “welcome home Ilhan.”
A CBS–YouGov poll conducted last week found Omar had a net favorability rating among Democrats who knew her, especially liberal Democrats.
The Hill reached out to Omar’s office.
