Pelosi: Trump ‘scared’ of impeachment probe
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Wednesday she thinks President Trump is “scared” of the impeachment investigation that Democrats launched over his dealings with Ukraine.
Pelosi told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that she thinks the president is calling House Democrats the “Do Nothing Democrats” because of his fear surrounding the inquiry.
{mosads}”I think the president knows the argument that can be made against him, and he’s scared,” she said. “And so he’s trying to divert attention from that to where it’s standing in the way of legislation.”
The Democratic leader said she could sense the “surprise in his voice” when they spoke on the phone about the impeachment inquiry launched last week amid revelations that Trump had pressed Ukraine’s president over the summer to launch an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden, the current Democratic presidential front-runner.
“He didn’t understand that I thought what he did was wrong, that he was undermining our national security, that he was undermining our Constitution by his actions and he was undermining the integrity of our elections,” she said. “He just didn’t see it.”
Pelosi mentioned her remarks from a press conference earlier Wednesday about the progress she hopes to make in lowering prescription drug costs and finalizing a trade agreement with Mexico and Canada.
The president responded to her remarks by tweeting that she is “incapable of working on either” policy item.
Nancy Pelosi just said that she is interested in lowering prescription drug prices & working on the desperately needed USMCA. She is incapable of working on either. It is just camouflage for trying to win an election through impeachment. The Do Nothing Democrats are stuck in mud!

Trump also tweeted Wednesday that the Democrats are wasting time on “bullshit” with the impeachment inquiry.
The Do Nothing Democrats should be focused on building up our Country, not wasting everyone’s time and energy on BULLSHIT, which is what they have been doing ever since I got overwhelmingly elected in 2016, 223-306. Get a better candidate this time, you’ll need it!

Pelosi responded in her ABC interview by turning back to areas where the White House and Democrats could work on legislative items, saying, “Why can’t we do it? It’s up to him.”
“That was our pledge during the campaign, ‘For the People,’ we would lower the cost of prescription drugs. I think that the president wants to do that. So, I hope that he would cooperate. He does want the U.S., Mexico, Canada free trade agreement. So do we — when we have assurances that there will be enforceability for America’s workers and America’s farmers. And we’re close. We’re on a path to yes.”
