Moskowitz swipes after Comer says to take medication: ‘We know who’s taking more’
House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) and Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) traded personal swipes over who takes more medication after Moskowitz attacked Comer’s leadership of the committee.
The exchange came during an Oversight panel hearing titled “A Legacy of Incompetence: Consequences of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Policy Failures.”
Moskowitz used his time during the hearing, though, to criticize Comer, particularly the impeachment inquiry report. The report, released last month, was based on the committee’s investigation into the foreign business dealings of President Biden’s family members. While the report asserted Biden engaged in impeachable conduct, it did not recommend articles of impeachment.
“I want the chairman to show the American people that we didn’t just waste millions of taxpayer dollars to issue this book report,” Moskowitz said. “Mr. chairman, the Speaker is watching, you can call for impeachment right now.”
“Or is this just concepts of impeachment?” Moskowitz added, in reference to former President Trump’s remark in last week’s presidential debate that he had “concepts of a plan.”
The Florida congressman went on to say the entire 118th Congress has been a failure, referencing the removal of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Republicans voting down their own partisan government funding bills.
When Moskowitz’s time had expired, Comer remarked he would “love to be a fly on the wall when you find out that Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential election and his son pled guilty for corruption.”
“Where’s the impeachment vote?” Moskowitz shouted, as Rep. William Timmons (R-S.C.) started his period of questioning.
“You need to take your medication and leave,” Comer told Moskowitz.
“Mr. chairman, you’re several decades older than me, we know who’s taking more medication,” Moskowitz told the Comer.
Moskowitz’s perception of age, though, was off: Comer, who turned 52 last month, is only eight years and four months older than the 43-year-old Moskowitz.
Nevertheless, Moskowitz responded to the correct age difference in a post on the social platform X: “I think the Committee has aged him 10 years.”
The exchange is just the latest clash between Comer and Moskowitz.
During another Oversight Committee hearing last year, Comer told Moskowitz that he looked like a Smurf.
