Hagedorn holds onto Minnesota House seat

Freshman Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R) is projected to win a second term in office, defeating his 2018 opponent yet again to retain his seat for Minnesota’s 1st district.

The Associated Press called the race at 6:10 p.m. EST.

Hagedorn’s 2018 victory over Dan Feehan (D) was a narrow one, winning with just 50.1 percent of the vote to Feehan’s 49.7.

Hagedorn, the son of former Rep. Tom Hagedorn, has sought to represent Minnesota’s southernmost district since 2010 when he railed to garner the Republican nomination. He gained the party’s nod in 2014 and 2016, however, losing each time to then-Rep. Tim Walz (D).

Hagedorn, who is married to Minnesota Republican Party Chair Jennifer Callahan, came under fire during the campaign for getting free rent for his campaign headquarters from a political donor, according to reporting from Politico.
