Cawthorn celebrates Cheney departure from Republican leadership with ‘na na na na’ tweet
Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) celebrated Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) being ousted as the House’s Republican chairwoman with a “na na na na” tweet.
Cawthorn posted his tweet on Wednesday after news broke out of Cheney losing her position in the party. “Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey, goodbye Liz Cheney,” Cawthon said in his post.

Cawthorn’s tweet referenced the song “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye ” from 70’s rock band Steam, which has been used in sporting events and public events around the world, mocking the opponent.
Cawthorn shared a tweet in a different tone on his second account, saying “The Republican Party stands United.”

This comes as House Republicans voted on Wednesday to oust Cheney from her leadership post, punishing her for continuing to say that former President Trump lied about the 2020 election being stolen.
Cheney was also one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for his role in the Jan.6 insurrection at the Capitol.
Cheney is expected to be replaced by moderate Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), a Trump loyalist, by the end of the week.
