Gretchen Carlson announces new job with Time

Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson guest-hosted NBC’s “Today Show” on Tuesday, marking her first outing as a daytime host since filing a sexual harassment lawsuit against Roger Ailes last summer.

Carlson, a former co-host of “Fox and Friends,” joined Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones during the third hour of “Today.”

Carlson’s contract with Fox was not renewed in June, with the network citing low ratings. The 50-year-old proceeded to file a suit against Ailes, 76, which led to his resignation as chairman and CEO of the network two weeks later, following an internal investigation.

“I’m a huge believer in being optimistic and getting a fresh start,” Carlson said Tuesday when asked about her New Year’s resolution. She also revealed a new position with Time magazine as a columnist, with a focus on women and empowerment issues.

Carlson had not been seen on the air since her Fox News exit outside of a November interview with ABC’s “20/20.”
