Megyn Kelly says goodbye to Fox News on final show

Megyn Kelly anchored her final Fox News show Friday night as she prepares to make the jump to NBC News.  

In her closing remarks, she said the decision was bittersweet and thanked her viewers.

{mosads}“I am sincerely grateful for your trust, your patience and your good humor over the years, which is one of the reasons why saying goodbye is so hard,” she said. “But the truth is I am lucky to have been doing a job whose ending is bittersweet. And I leave you knowing I am better for having been here. I hope you feel the same.” 

When news of her move broke on Wednesday, she delivered more emotional remarks, and said it was a “tough decision,” thanking her staff, crew, colleagues and viewers.  

She said that her relationship with viewers was a valuable human connection.  

“The truth is I need more of that in my life, in particular when it comes to my children who are 7, 5, and 3,” she said. “So I’ll be leaving Fox News at the week’s end and starting a new adventure, joining the journalists at NBC News who I deeply admire.

“I am very grateful to NBC for this opportunity and I am deeply thankful to Fox News the wonderful 12 years I have had here. I’ve grown up here and been given every chance a young reporter could ever ask for,” she continued. “The Murdoch family has been kind and good to me at every turn, and my colleagues are like a second family. So I’ll miss them and this show and you, and I hope our human connection continues, albeit over a different line.” 

Kelly is leaving “Kelly File” behind to host a daytime show and a Sunday evening news magazine show, as well as participate in big-news coverage, at NBC News. 

“Kelly File” was the second most-watched show on Fox News, behind Bill O’Reilly’s “O’Reilly Factor.”

Her contract with Fox expires over the summer.
