Charlie Rose to undergo heart surgery
CBS and PBS host Charlie Rose announced Wednesday that he will undergo heart surgery on Thursday.
In a post on CBSNews.com, the 75-year-old Rose wrote that an aortic valve needs to be replaced. He won’t be back on “CBS This Morning” until March to allow time to properly recover.
“I can’t wait to be back completely rested with my heart recharged, my passion for the work ahead purposeful and my joy at life’s pleasures high,” Rose wrote. “Until then, stay close.”
{mosads}Rose shared that doctors inserted a replacement valve 15 years ago, but the valve needs to be replaced.
“The timing is my choice,” Rose wrote.
The North Carolina native and Duke graduate joined the CBS morning show in 2012 and was named a correspondent for “60 Minutes” in 1999. He also has hosted an eponymous interview show on PBS for more than two decades.
