Mika Brzezinski: ‘Everyone should ban’ Kellyanne Conway
MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski ramped up her criticism of President Trump and his top advisers in an interview published Tuesday, advising all media outlets that they should no longer put Kellyanne Conway on the air.
“I feel even more so that everyone should ban her,” Brzezinski told Variety magazine in reference to her February announcement that Conway would no longer be booked on “Morning Joe.”
“I’m surprised that these little acrobatic games are played with her on live national television. I think it denigrates what we do. It’s clear she doesn’t bring anything to the table. It’s clear she doesn’t know exactly what she’s talking about. It’s clear she’s making it up as she goes along.”
The “Morning Joe” co-host added that Conway “did teach us about microwaves,” a reference to Conway telling a New Jersey newspaper about “microwaves that turn into cameras” while discussing surveillance methods. White House press secretary Sean Spicer would later say Conway’s comments were made “in jest.”
{mosads}”That’s true, and now my microwave is named Kellyanne,” Brzezinski told Variety. “And every time I open it, which is frequently, because I don’t cook, I say, ‘Thank you, Kellyanne!'”
Brzezinski then turned back to Conway and the media, stating it was “unbelievable she has this job” of senior adviser to the president.
“But no, quite seriously, it’s unbelievable she has this job and what it says about this presidency that she has this job,” said Brzezinski, the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski, who served as President Carter’s national security adviser from 1977 to 1981.
“Look, it’s not the most comfortable thing to do, but it’s something you just have to: You have to say, ‘This is garbage,’ and rip up the script, and you have to cut to the chase and cut through the b.s., and she brings nothing more to the table than a lot of that,” she added.
Joe Scarborough and Brzezinski were accused of being too supportive of Trump during most of the GOP primary and presidential race as the billionaire candidate frequently called into their program.
As recently as New Year’s Eve, the longtime MSNBC hosts appeared to be in Trump’s good graces. They were seen at a party at the president’s Mar-a-Logo resort in Florida. Scarborough said he and Brzezinski were there to talk to Trump about doing an interview on their show.
Trump has not appeared on “Morning Joe” since May.
