MSNBC’s Maddow most-watched among younger viewers for 3rd-straight week
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow was the most-watched cable news host in the key 25- to 54-year-old demographic for a third consecutive week.
“The Rachel Maddow Show” averaged 678,000 viewers for the week of March 20 to 24, topping second-place “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Fox News, which averaged 629,000 viewers in the cable news demographic most coveted by advertisers.
Maddow’s win streak is her longest since December 2012, following the reelection of Barack Obama.
{mosads}Among total viewers, Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor” finished first, averaging 3.4 million viewers. Bill O’Reilly hosted the show Monday through Wednesday last week.
According to MSNBC, Maddow’s total audience was up 106 percent when compared to March 2016 in total viewers and 103 percent in the key demographic.
Cable news ratings in past nonelection years following presidential contests have shown precipitous drops. But the stunning election of Donald Trump and the political theater and controversy since the inauguration has kept interest at an even higher level than during the primary campaign season of 2016.
