Drudge: ‘O’Reilly has had tremendous run’

Matt Drudge sent a rare and ominous tweet directed at Bill O’Reilly on Tuesday, writing that the embattled Fox News host “has had a tremendous run.”

“Very few in the business get to decide when and how things end,” the conservative media personality tweeted. “Media is most brutal of all industries…”
{mosads}The Drudge Report founder’s tweet comes after a New York Magazine report Tuesday that said the sons of Rupert Murdoch, the 21st Century Fox and Fox News executive chairman, are weighing pulling the highly rated host off the air.

Controversy surrounding O’Reilly has been swirling since an April 1 New York Times report about payoffs to five women totaling $13 million who accused O’Reilly of sexual harassment or inappropriate conduct.

James and Lachlan Murdoch have not made a definite decision, according to the Tuesday report from New York Magazine’s Gabriel Sherman, but are leaning toward letting O’Reilly go. Their father opposes the move, the report said.

James Murdoch serves as 21st Century Fox CEO while Lachlan shares the title of chairman with his father.
More than 90 companies have pulled their ads from “The O’Reilly Factor,” a primetime program that has been the top-rated in cable news for the past 15 years.
The loss of ad revenue loss coupled with protests outside Fox News headquarters in Manhattan have contributed to the momentum for ousting O’Reilly, the report Tuesday said.

Drudge rarely tweets and always erases his tweets hours after doing so.

O’Reilly is reportedly on vacation to Italy and the Vatican.

The network said last week he will return on April 24.
