Hannity: Trump should tweet his accomplishments instead of press briefings

Fox News host Sean Hannity on Friday applauded President Trump’s suggestion to cancel future White House press briefings, and proposed the president tweet his accomplishments in lieu of holding news conferences.

“As long as they keep reporting fake news, bizarre conspiracy theories and show this bizarre fascination and paranoia about Russia, how about no more press conferences for the Hillary Clinton-colluding media?” Hannity said on air.

“Instead, I think every week the president should tweet out all of his accomplishments going back to Day One. Update people daily about what he’s doing and what he’s accomplishing.”

The president on Friday suggested that cancelling future press briefings would allow his administration to avoid criticism for briefing the public with inaccurate information. Trump’s suggestion came after the White House faced scrutiny for a series of contradictions and inconsistencies in its narrative of Trump’s decision to fire FBI Director James Comey.

“As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with perfect accuracy!” he wrote on Twitter.

“Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future “press briefings” and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???” he said in a second tweet.

Trump floated a similar idea once again in an interview with Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro, suggesting that he could hold a press conference every two weeks by himself, as opposed to having his staff conduct a daily briefing.

“Well, just don’t have them. Unless I have them every two weeks and I do them myself, we don’t have them,” he said. “I think it’s a good idea. First of all, you have a level of hostility that’s incredible and it’s very unfair.”

Hannity appeared to second that idea, saying that Trump can reach the American people just as easily through social media, without the filter of news outlets.

“He could take to Twitter,” Hannity said. “He could respond to the barrage of attacks – this ridiculous conspiracy theory about Russia that is being pushed with no evidence and collusion.”
