Breitbart reporter fired after anti-Muslim tweet
A Breitbart writer who tweeted anti-Muslim comments shortly after a terror attack in London that left seven dead and nearly 50 inured has been fired.
CNN first reported the firing of Katie McHugh, who tweeted out on Saturday night that “there would be no deadly terror attacks in the U.K. if Muslims didn’t live there.”
The backlash on social media and among some Breitbart employees was swift, and included an exchange between TV actor Pej Vahdat (Fox’s “Bones”) and McHugh.
{mosads}“You’re a real moron,” actor Pej Vahdat responded to McHugh’s since-deleted tweet.
“You’re an Indian,” retorted McHugh.
Vahdat is not Indian, but of Iranian-American decent.
Several of McHugh’s colleagues also expressed their displeasure, with several telling CNN that McHugh’s remarks were “appalling” and “dumb.”
McHugh has tweeted about her firing.

This isn’t the first time McHugh has stirred outrage.
She once tweeted to her 19,000 followers that “Mexicans wrecked Mexico & think invading the USA will magically cure them of their retarded dysfunction. LOL.”
McHugh isn’t the only Breitbart writer who drew negative attention for a tweet over the weekend.
Ryan Saavedra, a Breitbart reporter who covers “illegal immigration” per his Twitter bio, called for the return of the crusades after the London terror attack, also on Twitter. His status with Breitbart News is not known.
The Hill has reached out to Breitbart News for comment.
