Laura Ingraham: Not sure press secretary job is ‘something I’m dying to do’

Conservative radio host and commentator Laura Ingraham downplayed speculation that she will replace Sean Spicer as White House press secretary, telling Fox News on Tuesday that she’s “not sure the press secretary thing is something I’m dying to do.”

In an interview on “Fox & Friends,” co-host Steve Doocy asked Ingraham if she would be interested in “being the president’s press secretary, standing at that podium every day.”

“I’ve always said that if it’s something that I think I could do well, and it would really advance the agenda of this administration at a time where I think there’s so much at stake for the country and for the future, you know, I would think about it,” Ingraham, also a Fox News contributor, said.

{mosads}”I’m not sure if that’s the role I would pick for myself, but I have a legal background, strategic, you know, political communications planning. I’m not sure the press secretary thing is something I’m dying to do.”

Ingraham’s Tuesday comments differ somewhat from in an interview in early December on the Fox morning program, when she said at the time it was a “great privilege to even be considered.”

“I have known Donald Trump for a long time, and we have been friends for a long time, and I am looking forward to that conversation. It is a great privilege to even be considered,” she said on Dec. 6.

“If your country calls you, if God opens that door, you have to seriously consider it. If I can really help, it is hard to say no to that. If I think I can help, which I think I could.”

Spicer and White House chief of staff Reince Priebus reached out to Ingraham regarding her interest in the press secretary position, as well as Daily Mail editor David Martosko for the role of communications director, according to a Monday Politico report.
