Yiannopoulos files $10 million lawsuit over canceled book deal

Alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos filed a $10 million lawsuit against Simon & Schuster publishing house after it canceled his six-figure book deal, multiple news outlets reported Friday. 

In December of 2016, Yiannopolous landed a $250,000 book deal to write his memoir “Dangerous.” The publishing house canceled the deal in February, however, leading Yiannopoulos to self-publish the book earlier this week.{mosads}

A copy of Yiannopoulos’s lawsuit claims that Simon & Schuster “wrongfully, and in bad faith” canceled the book deal, violating his contract over outrage from people with views opposing Yiannopoulos.

“Rather than live up to the terms of its contract with Yiannopoulos to publish Dangerous, and despite pre-orders projected to propel the book onto leading best-selling book lists, Simon & Schuster wrongfully, and in bad faith, terminated the contract with Yiannopoulos in violation of its terms and canceled Dangerous under pressure from authors, bookselling accounts, business and special interest groups, celebrities, and various other self-appointed censors,” the civil suit, filed in New York State Supreme Court on Friday, read.

Yiannopoulos’s “Dangerous” was published on Amazon on July 4 and quickly became the #1 bestseller and #1 new release on the website, according to Publishers Weekly.
