Scarborough: Trump ‘declared war on Washington and Washington has answered back’
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Thursday said President Trump’s falling poll numbers reflect voters beginning to see the president is not getting anything done in Washington.
On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Scarborough said “almost everybody” doesn’t like Trump’s tweeting habit. But, he added, “this isn’t about the tweets.”
“It’s almost as if there’s a realization finally that the tweets, the lies, the Russian investigation, which most Americans do not care about right now … you can go down the list of all the things that we’re accused of obsessing on,” he continued.
“And the one thing that voters seem to be boiling that down to is yes, there’s a lot of noise — there’s a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing — and what it’s leading to is him getting nothing done in Washington,” Scarborough said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
{mosads}Scarborough said this is leading to Trump insulting “everybody,” including some GOP senators and his attorney general. He referenced Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.).
“Him insulting Lisa Murkowski and Lisa Murkowski saying go to hell. Him insulting Jeff Flake. Jeff Flake saying OK fine,” Scarborough said.
“He has declared war on Washington and Washington has answered back.”
Trump’s approval rating hit a new low in a poll released Wednesday.
A Quinnipiac University poll found 61 percent of voters disapproved of the job the president was doing, compared to 33 percent who approved of Trump’s job performance.
Senators last week failed on several attempts to dismantle ObamaCare. The White House in the past week has also gone through a shakeup, with Trump announcing that John Kelly would replace Reince Priebus as chief of staff and ousting communications director Anthony Scaramucci.
