Jeffrey Lord reacts to being cut from CNN: ‘LOL’

Political commentator Jeffrey Lord had a three-letter reaction to his dismissal from CNN on Thursday.

“LOL!” Lord tweeted minutes after news broke that CNN had cut ties with him after he tweeted “Sieg Heil!” at a liberal activist.

Lord, a columnist for conservative magazine The American Spectator and supporter of President Trump, got into a back-and-forth on Twitter with Media Matters for America president Angelo Carusone after Lord wrote an opinion piece calling the website “Media Matters Fascists.”

Carusone criticized Lord, noting that he’d spelled his name wrong and asked him, “Why do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you don’t take yourself seriously?”

Lord tweeted back, responding with “Sieg Heil!” — the Nazi salute for “Hail, my leader!”

“Nazi salutes are indefensible,” a CNN spokesperson said. “Jeffrey Lord is no longer with the network.”

Lord joined CNN as a contributor in 2016 to serve as a Trump defender during panel discussions.
