ESPN’s Jemele Hill rips NASCAR for welcoming Confederate flags

ESPN anchor Jemele Hill ripped NASCAR in a tweet on Sunday for welcoming Confederate flags even as some team owners said they would fire people working for them who protested during the national anthem.

Hill — who was in headlines earlier this month after the White House said she should be fired for calling President Trump a white supremacist — shared an article Sunday about NASCAR owners threatening to dismiss protesting employees.

The remarks from NASCAR owners were reported after National Football League (NFL) players, owners and coaches engaged in various kinds of demonstrations after Trump condemned any NFL players who protested the anthem.

Trump on Sunday praised NASCAR, its supporters and its fans for taking a stand.

“They won’t put up with disrespecting our Country or our Flag — they said it loud and clear!” Trump tweeted, referring to NASCAR.

The president also continued to go after players who refuse to stand during the national anthem, saying it has nothing to do with race, but is instead an issue of respect for the country and its flag.

“NFL must respect this!” Trump tweeted.
