Kimmel: I’d love to have Trump on my show
Jimmy Kimmel said he would love to have President Trump as a guest on his late-night show.
In an interview on “Good Morning America,” the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” host said he has “a lot of questions” for the president.
“Maybe this is crazy, but I feel like I could turn him around on a couple of things,” Kimmel said.
{mosads}Kimmel’s foray into politics has been making headlines for months, with viral clips of the host’s emotional monologues on health care and gun control intertwined with his usual jabs at the president.
But Kimmel said the president probably wouldn’t make a stop on Kimmel’s live tour in Brooklyn next week.
“I would guess that he’s not planning to visit me anytime soon,” Kimmel said. “I think he and Sean Hannity have date night on those nights.”
Kimmel also jabbed back at Donald Trump Jr., who called Kimmel out on Twitter for not addressing the Harvey Weinstein scandal earlier on his show.
“He’s an idiot, let’s just start with that,” Kimmel said. “He’s an imbecile whose job seems to be tweeting.”
Kimmel defended his delay, saying that the news of numerous accusations of sexual harassment and assault against Weinstein came out too late for him to address it on his program that day.
Kimmel’s focus on politics seems to have paid off in ratings gains.
Kimmel has made strong gains among younger viewers, and his show is the only late-night program showing year-over-year gains in total viewers and in the valuable 18- to 49-year-old demographic.
