CNN’s Stelter: ‘We’re not anti-Trump, we’re pro-truth’
CNN host Brian Stelter on Sunday hit back at White House counselor Kellyanne Conway’s assertion that the network is biased against President Trump.
“We’re not anti-Trump, Kellyanne, we’re pro-truth. We’re pro-honesty. We’re pro-decency,” Stelter said on his show, “Reliable Sources.”
“And this is a tough moment in American history for people that support facts and decency.”
During her interview with Stelter on Sunday, Conway suggested it is in CNN’s commercial interest to be anti-Trump, then accused the network of not giving enough attention to controversies surrounding Hillary Clinton.
{mosads}“Just own it, just own it at CNN … Just say, ‘you know we’re doing better in the ratings we’re getting better ad revenues because we’re one of the more anti-Trump than down-the-line outlets,’” Conway said. “I think it’s OK to do that.”
“I guess you just want everyone to be like Fox News,” Stelter quipped early in the interview.
“Stop being so jealous of Fox News, Brian,” Conway retorted.
CNN recently unveiled a “Facts First” ad campaign in response to Trump’s frequent attacks on the media, and CNN in particular, as “fake news.”
During the 2016 campaign, Trump referred to CNN as the “Clinton News Network.”
