Trevor Noah on Wednesday said it was “karma” that Republicans lost in elections across the country.
“You know who really won big in last night’s elections?” Noah asked during his late-night show.
“Karma, yes karma. The spiritual principle that the universe will reward good actions and punish bad ones.”
{mosads}Democrats roared back Tuesday, claiming big victories in races up and down the ballot and across the country.
In Virginia, Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam (D) defeated Ed Gillespie (R) to win the governorship.
In New Jersey, former Goldman Sachs executive Phil Murphy (D) easily won the right to replace deeply unpopular Gov. Chris Christie (R), cementing Democratic control in the Garden State.
During his late-night show on Wednesday, Noah also brought up a Republican New Jersey official who posted a meme mocking the Women’s March. That official was defeated in an election by a woman who was inspired by his remarks to run for office.
“He was worried about women having time to make dinner, and now karma has given him all the time he needs to make his own dinner,” Noah said.
Noah added: “Karma was all over America.”
