Ryan to appear at Fox News town hall on tax reform
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) will be featured in a Fox News town hall event on Tuesday night to discuss GOP efforts on tax reform.
The event will take place before a live audience from Herndon, Va., and will be co-anchored by Fox’s Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.
The town hall “will focus on tax reform and Speaker Ryan will answer questions from the town hall audience in addition to the co-anchors,” reads a network announcement.
{mosads}Following last week’s resounding Democratic sweep in gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey, Ryan said that getting tax reform passed is crucial for Republicans who lack any major legislative victories since President Trump took office almost 10 months ago.
“The way I see it, honestly, is we’ve got to get our job done. That’s why I think tax reform is just so important, not just politically but just for the country,” Ryan said.
“I think what people want to know and see is that this Donald Trump presidency and this Republican Congress makes a positive difference,” he added.
The House is set to vote on its tax-reform bill on Thursday, and the measure is expected to be approved. In the Senate, the Finance Committee has begun to consider a separate version of the bill.
The town hall will air at 6:30 p.m.
